CPSC, Harry and David Announce Recall of Outdoor Lanterns

Hazard

The solder attaching the hanger at the top of the lantern may melt from the heat of a candle, causing the lantern to detach from the hanger, posing a fire hazard.

Description

The recalled candle lanterns are approximately 5", 7", and 9" square. They are made of rustproof galvanized steel, lined with glass panels and a hanger at the top. Each lantern has a holder for placing a candle inside the lantern.

The lanterns were sold as a set of three, nationwide, from September 2001 through November 2001, for about $60.

What you should do

Consumers should stop using the lanterns immediately and contact Harry and David to receive a full refund. Purchasers were sent direct mail notification of this recall.
