Description

THE MINIMUM FORCE REQUIRED TO RELEASE THE BELT BUCKLE COULD BE LESS THAN THE MINIMUM BUCKLE FORCE REQUIRED IN FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 213, "CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS." A CHILD COULD HAVE AN EASIER TIME OPENING THE BUCKLE. IF A CHILD RELEASES THE BUCKLE AND THEN THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, THE CHILD WOULD NOT BE PROTECTED BY THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND COULD BE INJURED.
